Robbery!!!
This is a perfect example of y this sport needs 2 take a close look at the judging and make something new up or drastically change the criteria that goes into the 10 point must system. Matt Serra clearly won this fight in every1's mind including Hughes. If u look at Hughes at the end of the fight first he raises Serra's hand as if 2 say he's the better man n i was beat here 2day. Then as they're announcing that it's by unanimous decision Serra raises his own hand w/a smile while Hughes has a sad disappoint gaze of defeat written all over his face.
I watched this fight live the first time i saw it and i saw the fight in Serra's favor by far. When i watched it even closer the second time around i found no differences from what i thought the first time i saw it... lol. It was hilarious that he was robbed that bad.
Here is how i break down the fight round by round. In the first round i'd say it was a 10/9 Round in the favor of Serra. Serra nearly finishes Hughes as soon as it all begins 2 the point where Hughes can't even remember whether or not he was Knocked down. The Hughes survives and gets 1 Takedown which then he turns into a possible rear naked choke. Now here is the tricky part, by 2days standards a take down is a good point scorer. However a knock Down should say a whole lot more 2 a judge since it is a near finish 2 the fight. N the failed submission attempt by hughes should count as almost nothing by 2days scoring cuz if it did then Serra should've been so far ahead on point by the end of this fight that this wouldn't even be close. N keep in mind i really think this round was 10/8 Serra but i'm going by 2day's judging ways not wat i think they should really be.
Second round, Goes 2 Hughes but it should be no moer then a 10/9 round 4 Hughes cuz he gets 2 takedowns in the whole round and does NOTHING w/them. If u look at the compubox numbers he barely even gets 2 throw a punch in the second round on the ground or standing. (This is the perfect example of y (1) ref's need desperately 2 watch LAY AND PRAY closely and stand the fight up a whole lot faster. (2) Judges need 2 open there eyes n notice that when a guy is doing as lil as hughes did in this round this cannot be a round in his favor. (3) if the judging is looked at even w/Serra on his back this whole round he did a while lot more and had more chances 2 finish then hughes did and he gets up at the end of the round like the fight just started as apposed 2 hughes who looked like he was ready 2 throw in the towel.
Round 3 They stand 4 a lil and serra is by far getting the best of Hughes as we saw throughout the whole fight. Then Hughes gets a takedown. Again does nothing w/it and Serra not only reverses it, but then breaks free punishes Hughes a bit n finally ends up taking Hughes down as well. The best part was not only was this top level wrestler taken down by a smaller opponent who beat him on his feet already but then he's ground and pounded by serra for the last min and a half of the round. Last but not least lets not 4get the fact that yet again Serra even when he was on his back was the only 1 working 4 somthing in that round as well.
So other then the first round when Hughes tried n failed at a Rear naked Choke he did nothing on the ground. Serra by far dominated the standup. So in summary, Hughes was outclassed. Even by 2days twisted standards this fight was by far a win for Serra.

what!?
Hughes won. Serra got the first round, Hughes the second and then the third too. I'm not saying it wasn't close cuz it was but in the last round Hughes was dominant longer the Serra. To say Serra won by far is ridiculous.
Robbery ? yea right
are you forgeting about aggressiveness and octagon control witch are also big factors in winning a decision.lets just do a play by play of the first round.
5:00 minutes to 4:18 alot of dancing by both
4:18 HEADBUTT "witch was not seen by the ref or half the millions watching" Not KNOCKDOWN
4:05 hughs stands back up even dazed and confused serra couldnt keep him down! then some well placed shots by serra and some well needed recover by hughs now
3:35 to 2:50 serra has his back against the fence being schooled on how someone imposes their will in dirty boxing "randy couture style lol"
2:50 to 1:39 more dancing by both and then what do you know BAM
1:36 huge take down by hughs and some ground and pound then @
1:26 the black bet serra has his back mounted and then
:38 seconds left serra jumps up and acts like hes done something then proceeds to show how bad he is by doing nothing the last 38 seconds of the round except taking that straight right hand by hughs and almost being thrown to the mat again befor being saved by the bell.
so in closing matt serra in my mind and also i believe in the refs eyes lost that round and you obviously like serra cause the tape dont lie. it wasnt that close of a fight mayby a little boring but so thats mma.
Now my boy GSP should take both of the washed up matts and fight them both at once .ill ppay to see that. lol no offence hughs but you just aint what you used to be and you game has always been one demintional. as for serra he has never had much of a game to begin with . he needs to go down to 155 and see the prodigy for another ass woopin! or stopp running your mouth and get to the gym and focus on the fights not the fighters.
