couture - coleman
Most boring fight in 999 billion years, Rogan: the WWF called, they want you back.
couture-coleman
What was Coleman doing? Didn't go for a takedown the entire match. Just stood there and traded shots. Let Randy get double under hooks.
couture-coleman
you guys are both fuckin retards first what kinda username is WWEfan on a mma website ?? and coleman is a fuckin stand up bang fighter you retard go watch some men in unitards fag....and goodchild your also a idiot how was it a boring fight if they were moving and exchangin the whole time and it ended in submission although thats not randys style and coleman was goin up against the fuckin natural so yeah he fuckin lost..
Very impressed...
...With Guillard! Looks like he's finally figured out how to defend submissions...If he can continue to improve his takedown D he should be a force to be reckoned with in the division. Also, Paolo Thiago...His striking looked great...Really good combos.
All in all a pretty good night of fights...Coleman looked like a sad old man fighting a world class old man...Disappointed with Marquardt's loss but I think that Sonnen may actually present a real challenge for Anderson Silva. The fighters he's had the most trouble with have been great wrestlers and Sonnen certainly fits the bill...Frank Trigg looked horrible...Barely even threw a punch. He doesn't belong in the UFC.

Confused
I'm confused, Dana White called Strikeforce a freak show, yet he had two old guys headline a UFC event. How does that work out?
Summary of all u morons (this is a must read!!!)
First of all Goodchild ur an Idiot. Randy Couture fights usually go the distance so the fact that he finished this fight so early, not 2 mention the fact that he got caught by coleman and then 30 seconds later he tags coleman back obviously makes it a much better fight then Randy's usual fights.
Next J Jeason i agree w/most of what u said howeva Coleman is first n formost a wrestler his standup was always wild and not all that effective. His bread and butter is ground n pound and he was a lil stupid not 2 even try 4 a takedown, especially when it was obvious he was being outclassed on his feet. Then again that's partially Shawn Tompkin's fault 4 not giving him that advice in between round cuz we all know Coleman is not the sharpest tool in the shed.
Micah i'll agree that Guillard looked better w/his takedown defense and even his reversals. but he's explosive so his reversals have been seen before against even better opponents. Howeva lets be honest he lost that fight by the 10 point must system standards. That was extreme robbery. If any American wrestler was in there w/that many takedowns the entire fight they would've won against Guillard. Don't get me wrong cuz i agree w/Guillard winning cuz Torres did nothing after taking him down, but if u look at guys like Gray Maynard or Strikeforce's jake shields they do nothing more then "lay n pray" wrestling.
N w/regards 2 the moron who compared the UFC 2 strikeforce. R U FUCKING KIDDING ME!!! Coleman and Couture may not be real contenders anymore at 205 in the UFC but they would more then likely both clean house against competition like strikeforce is using as there headline fighters right now. W/ the exception of Gegard Mousasi, Fedor, Nick Diaz, and a few 155lbs fighters strikeforce's whole roster is a Joke. Strikeforce needs the freakshow 2 survive right now n i hope they do survive cuz w/out the competition the UFC will continue 2 pay it's fighters shit money they do now. As a fan they put on the best fights but as a fighter i can't stand them.
Heavyweights r the biggest draw as a newcomer into the UFC especially right now. Obviously cuz it was a weak division and because there is more potential 4 KO's and other finishes cuz men at 230 plus pounds don't usually go the distance. And do u know what the average UFC heavyweight makes about 15k or less. I'm talking guys like pat Berry that now have 4 fights in and r winning but r not top 5 yet, not just the first timers. it's a business ppl, open ur eyes 2 the whole picture not just what the announcer or the promoter tells u.

lol
Coleman only started working on his stand up with shawn tompkins over the past year he was never a stand up bang fighter. Stand up because all fights start standing then force a takedown and ground and pound is all I have scene out of coleman in ten years. He just looked overwhelemed.
Side note
Micah what r u talking about w/regards 2 Anderson Silva... When did he have trouble w/wrestlers? He lost a few matches to a few SUBMISSION specialists back in his early Career in Brazil n Japan. None of which were wrestlers or had a wrestling background. He murdered Travis Luder who was a wrestler w/a Black belt in BJJ. 1 of the best wrestlers out there at 185 if not the best is Henderson and Anderson embarassed his ass 2. Wrestlers r a great base. They're not exciting n they're generally not finishers. N that's the problem. When u face a wrestler u more then likely have all 15 min 2 find a way 2 beat them. A Striker or submission fighter can finish it at times before the wrestler gets a chance 2 even get a single takedown. Cheal has a shot but not at all a good shot cuz he's predictable and Anderson only has 2 train 2 go against that 1 style.
Fair enough but:
Allow me to retort:
Mark Coleman: Just look at the "Mark Coleman vs Fedor Emelianenko 1 " fight!!!! He fucking mounted Fedor!! Had him in a rear naked choke!! fuck, thats the Mark Colaman i know and respect.
Randy Couture: "Randy Couture vs Chuck Liddell 1" nuff said.

Cagefighter1 is the man!
So first of all only 9 of Randy's 28 fights have gone the distance including w/l, not really a majority. And a lot of the fights that went the distance w/Randy were pretty exciting I think.
"open ur eyes 2 the whole picture not just what the announcer or the promoter tells u".
Cagefighter1
Oh and I guess we should listen to you because your such a smart guy that knows better than anyone else about mma? I doubt it, I think that you are just an angry guy that likes to bully people over the internet. I've only seen one comment from a moron so far, and I think everyone knows who it is.

Terrible
First, let me say that I am a dedicated UFC fan. I have watched every single UFC since UFC 1 and I also watched quite a few Pride shows. That was the worst UFC show I have seen in at least 10 years. There were only a couple of decent fights and watching Coleman was downright embarrassing! If Dana White was going to force the Ice Man retire how can he justify allowing Coleman to stiffly stumble around the cage?
I watched the last Strikeforce production and it was better in my opinion. Obviously the UFC has the depth of talent and superior production value, but this was a sub-par effort. Two geriatric fighters, even a very talented fighter like Couture should NEVER, NEVER, NEVER be the headline fight. WTF!? Co-headliners...maybe...no on second thought, never.

...
yup, a pretty average night of fights. Coleman vs Couture? Yawn. I was bored of this fight before it began.
I think fans are getting too picky.
The Stann-Davis fight was good. Davis is an up and comer who we'll see more of. The Matt Serra fight was great, nice to see Trigg leave the UFC. Also, the Swick and Thiago fight was great. Lets hope Thiago gets another fighter from AKA to fight, he'll never lose! Sure Marquardt-Sonnen sucked as did the main event, but I'm sick of all the fans bitching about cards. If you don't wanna pay for them, go to a bar, or watch them streaming on the internet. Or just stop watching.
However.
I must say though, that last Strikeforce card was great. Starting to pay way more attention to Strikeforce. Diaz rules.
mmaslob
Being a proffesional mma couch potato i can safely say that the ufc events have been going downhill for a while now.Where have all the stacked cards gone?.Looking forward to Nog VS Caine though.
In response 2 the Super Moron
Don't reference me u idiot. Especially when u don't know ur shit. I've been watching MMA since before it was even televised back in the early Pride days. The UFC was underground here in NY and my father brought me 2 those cagefights. I think you need 2 do some real reseach before u challenge me there guy. Randy Couture may have 28 fights under his belt however when i say half were by decision i meant it. He had 8 by decisions but we were talking about his wins, and he only has 18 wins. 8 of which r by decision. That's well over 40% of his fights being WON by decision which was what i stated.
I don't say i know more then every1, but i certainly know more then u... Oh and just a lil side note, he also has NO KO's what-so-ever. How Many really exciting fighters can u say that about? Face it other then his age and the fact that he's competative and still growing in skill at his age there is nothing miraculous about the guy. The UFC just had 2 much money contracted 2 him so they can't afford 2 let him leave 2 another promotion or lose shitty fights cuz he's still w/them for 5 or 6 more fights. If they wanna make money over the crazy money they pay him they need 2 keep him a big draw...
